DESCRIPTION:

 

A delightful stone house in the village on the hills of the small Lopud Island on the Dalmatian coast which is just a boat-trip of 20 minutes away from Dubrovnik. The countryside here is particularly lush due to the fresh water sources. This is a peaceful place with no roads and no cars and it is ideal to recharge one’s batteries, far from any stress. Guests can enjoy a simple, but well-equipped, life here, and taste delicious fish and refreshing ice cream.

The compound sits on an acre of land. A 16th century chapel sits just outside the stone walls. Ancient cypress and olive trees are scattered throughout. The Adriatic beckons you from every corner of the compound. The island is almost 5 square miles and is one of the Elaphiti Islands off the coast of Dalmatia, southern Croatia and one of the few that still operates without cars. One can walk from the house to most places on the island, often stumbling into ruins with rich history. There are many swimming spots to explore, with the azure sea welcoming you at every turn.

There is no transport on the island unless you consider talking the public golf carts that take you from the Harbour to the beach on the other side of the island. Paddle skis are available for hire from the beach facing the Harbour, or alternatively rent a bicycle to tour the island.

Access to the island can be by ferry from Dubrovnik, 40 minutes, or by water taxi, 20 minutes. From the island one can take water taxis to nearby islands. There is a basic food shop for essentials and a fresh fruit and vegetable stand on the harbor. We encourage everyone to use the shopping list from our caretaker / manager who will ensure you have the basic necessities on hand when you arrive, including drinks. Local white and red wine available to be purchased from our cellar. Cleaning lady included for 2 hours per day during which she can launder and iron. Additional hours available on request. Chef also available on request. Caretaker can advise on restaurants and day excursions on the island. There is a Hotel on the other side of the island which has tennis courts, squash and a full Spa.

 

RULES OF THE HOUSE

 

Everything on the property is of the highest quality. We expect guests to treat it with respect. Maximum of 4 people (2 couples). No additional guests allowed to stay. This is an ideal place to get away. The island is quiet, with just a handful of restaurants and no night life to speak of. Expect quiet and tranquility.
